Short-Term Individual Counseling

If you are looking for a few sessions with a CAPS psychologist to work through a specific concern, brief individual counseling may be a good option. CAPS clinicians will see students for 3 recurring sessions, with a max of 6 per semester. If you are utilizing short-term individual counseling you are still welcome and encouraged to use additional CAPS services such as group therapy, drop-in workshops, or the urgent services CAPS provides such as the after-hours crisis line.

Cancellation and No-show policy

Due to the high volume of utilization of CAPS, a “No-Show Policy” has been implemented in order to keep up with the demands of the student body. Please call at least 24-hours in advance to cancel or reschedule your appointment if you know you cannot keep your appointment. If a student no-shows or does not provide at least 24-hour notice the student may forfeit any future appointments with CAPS and will be subject to approval by a clinician prior to reschedule (forfeit does not include urgent services). This is to ensure all allotted clinical hours are utilized efficiently for all students. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation so that we maximize the availability of CAPS services to as many students as possible.
